Aberdeen Pool Rules

1. The Aberdeen pool area is for use by Aberdeen residents in good standing and their accompanied guests.

2. Anyone in the pool area must be able to show proof of access, i.e. key cart. Entry is only by key card, do not open the gate to admit anyone other than immediate family.

3. All persons using the pool do so at their own risk, regardless if there is a lifeguard on duty or not.

4. Children 12 years of age and under require adult supervision.

5. No smoking, vaping or any tobacco use allowed in the pool area or any of Aberdeen common areas at any time, including the parking lot.

6. No glass containers in pool area.

7. When the pool is closed, no admittance to the pool area is allowed. The pool is considered closed outside of posted operating hours, inclement weather, or when the “pool closed” sign is posted.

8. The lifeguard has the discretion to remove or restrict any toys (this includes rafts, balls, water guns, radios, etc.)

9. The lifeguard has the final word in all matters of the pool rule enforcement.

10. Running and/or boisterous conduct in the pool or pool area is prohibited.

11. No diving into the pool is allowed.

12. No flips into the pool are allowed.

13. No bikes, skateboards, scooters or similar equipment are allowed in the pool area.

14. No pets are allowed in the pool area. Only guide dogs or service dogs helping disabled individuals.

15. No tennis balls allowed in the pool. Only squish balls.

16. No breath holding. (Could result in shallow water blackout)

17. Pool must be cleared for 30 minutes when there is thunder or lightning.

18. At the beginning of lifeguard safety break EVERYONE must clear the pool.

19. Only lifeguards or authorized personnel allowed on the lifeguard stand. The fine for climbing upon or jumping off of the lifeguard stand has been established by Aberdeen’s Board to be $50.00 for the first occurrence and $100.00 for each subsequent occurrence.

20. Individuals with incontinence problems or those not properly trained must use a swim diaper or rubber pants. Standard disposable diapers/cloth diapers are NOT allowed in the water.

21. Pool gate is not to be propped open.

22. Repeated violations may result in fines and/or suspension of pool privileges.

23. Planned group events with more than 10 participants must be registered in advance with the pool manager. This may require an additional lifeguard to be present, and if so it is the responsibility of the resident to pay for the additional guard. You may order another guard online at www.amspoolsga.com

Please leave a message with call-back information and the nature of the problem; do not assume a call with no message left will be returned.

**Please note that a new policy will be implemented regarding vomit in the pool: When there is vomit material in pool the lifeguard on duty will close the pool for one hour and remove material from pool. The lifeguard will then check chlorine levels in pool. If levels are within set safety standards then swimming can resume with the understanding that residents and guests swim at their own risk. A sign will be placed at the gate entrance alerting residents and guests of incident.

The pool is closed for public swimming during designated swim team practice times and meets. When public school is in session, early May, the practices are immediately after school. During the summer break, practices are before the pool opens in the morning. Two or three swim meets are held a year, closing the pool from about 3:00 p.m. until the meet is over (five hours or more, weather permitting).

The lost and found bin is cleaned out every Wednesday. Items are donated to charity or thrown away depending on their condition.
